After analyzing more than half a billion videos, Mozilla Foundation found that negative feedback options like ‘dislike’, ‘not interested’, ‘do not recommend’, ‘remove from watch history’, etc. are not very effective. One is still likely to get more than 50% of the originally recommended videos anyway.

Instagram is working on nudity protection for chats

If tuned on, the technology on your device can scan messages and attached photos that may contain nudity. The focus on ‘device’ implies that Meta will not be analyzing the image but the only the device will be.Takeaway: While the technology surely looks useful to keep away sensitive and unwanted content, the question still is whether it is good for privacy that a mobile device can scan photos and generate statistics related to it.

TikTok Now, similar to BeReal, launched as a standalone app outside the US

BeReal considering paid features and subscriptions for monetization

Instead of the going through the ad route, BeReal is considering paid features or subscriptions for monetization. It is running on VC money and needs revenues to make its app’s performance better. Further information on this is yet to be disclosed by BeReal.

Meta announces Facebook Reels API

Facebook Reels API will enable the posting of Reels clips via 3rd-party video creation apps and social media management tools. This will complement the Instagram Reels API, which Meta launched back in June.
