TikTok introduces a range of new features including a ‘Photo Mode’

Photo Mode will allow users to post a carousel of images. Other features will grant users the ability to edit video clips, sounds, and text in even more creative ways. The features are currently not available in the US market.

Twitter tests prompting users to share tweets instead of screenshotting them

Some users have seen pop-ups of ‘Share Tweet’, or ‘Copy Link’ buttons at the bottom of tweets. This could a test by Twitter prompting users to share the tweets instead of screenshotting them. Twitter has complained about facing reduced engagement numbers due to people screenshotting the tweets and sharing them instead of visting the original tweets on Twitter.

Twitter expands the fact-checking Birdwatch program in the US

All Twitter users in the US will start to see crowdsourced fact checks on tweets. Birdwatch is a fact-checking program by which selected users (contributors) fact-check and add ‘context’ to potentially misleading tweets. Context voted as helpful will appear below the tweets. As per Twitter, tweets with contexts are, on average, 15 to 35 percent less likely to like to be retweeted.
