The dreaded test is here! Currently, a maximum of 2 unskippable ads are shown to non-premium users. The test is being done on a select few users with 5 unskippable bumper ads (5-6 seconds long ads).Takeaway: The million-dollar question is, will this move push users towards YouTube Premium or towards ad-blockers and other ad-blocking hacks? Ad-blockers prevent YouTubers from earning revenues and if more users are pushed towards such ad-blocking measures, this can negatively affect the whole ecosystem – creators, viewers, and YouTube (Alphabet).
