YouTube testing to display Channels’ content according to users’ preferences
A ‘Recommended’ section in YT Channels will display videos according to the watch history, topic affinity, language preference, etc. of users. YT is also testing to add separate tabs for Videos, Shorts, and Live uploads to help creators organize their content better.

YouTube to open monetization for Shorts via YouTube Partner Program (YPP)
Currently, a creator needs the following to make it to YPP: 1) 4000 longform watch hours in the last 12 months or 10 million Shorts views; 2) 1000 subscribers. These requirements are going to drop considerably for Shorts creators and they will be able to earn ad revenue from their content. Takeaway: The execution of monetization of Shorts for YT is going to be interesting but tricky. How many ads to show? And of what length? What counts as a Shorts view? There are many questions which remain to be answered thoroughly. Also, TikTok and Meta will be keeping a close watch on the developments.
YouTube to roll out comment reply feature similar to that of TikTok
Shorts creators can now feature comments in their videos as way of replying to those comments. This feature is similar to that of TikTok where instead of a text reply, creators can create a video as a reply. The feature is currently being tested and will be extended to all the iOS users in the coming weeks.
